The five-day program will cover the following topics:
Designing a Collaborative Strategy
Learning the Building Blocks of Collaborative Architecture
How to use Design Principles and Tools that will enable you to develop your own Collaborative Strategies
Learning and practicing the Partnership Skills that will enable you to co-design and co-develop those strategies.
About the Workshop Leaders
Sam Kaner Ph.D.– Sam has been a practicing organization development professional since the early 1980s and he founded Community At Work in 1987. He is the senior author of the Facilitator’s Guide to Participatory Decision-Making. In 2006, Sam was named “one of the world’s leading experts in collaboration.”
Nelli Noakes, MBA, MPA– Nelli has been a practicing systems change consultant since the year 2000. She joined Community At Work in 2013. She is much sought after for her skillful approach to the diagnosis, design and facilitation of multi-stakeholder collaboration.
The program will benefit agencies involved with an Ontario Health team or involved in shared projects with multiple agencies in the community. The fee for the week-long program is $3,500 per person including meals and HST. Accommodation is extra. There is a limit of 30 participants.

Today’s workplace can be a place where groups and individuals thrive. It can also be a lonely place where people find themselves trying to get through the day. I think an important role everyone can play is taking the time to support the people around them. Saying good morning, asking people about something really interesting they did today, cancelling a meeting to take the time to listen to someone is who is having a bad day is just a shortlist of things we can do to make a difference.
Investing in each other is an important part of our daily work. It really does pay off when we need support, advice or “moment” to be human.
On the flip side, when we belittle, push and are simply not nice to people, we create a place where people survive instead of thriving.
I like this video from Christine Porath on Incivility. I think it makes a great point on the choice we have on how to conduct ourselves in the workplace.
Civility is more than company policy. It is that rich opportunity to take the time to be ourselves and seek the opportunity to bring the best out in other people.
